Abstract:
TGE has been a useful tool in research for many decades, but only provided for the expression of ng-µg quantities of proteins from animal cells. Research, mostly executed in laboratories with industrial purpose, has revolutionized this technologies. Our own research, as well as that of otthers, has now pushed expression levels to the 100 µg/ml and higher, in some cases to the mg/ml range.
The talk will show some of the key insights gained and the processes involved for these achievements. I will also discuss the possibility to further develop this technology, potentially towards cGMP based manufacturing, delivering grams to kilograms of proteins in days from the availability of an encoding DNA.
