Abstract: The human olfactory system is more than a sensory system because olfaction plays an important role in homeostatic regulation and emotions. It is an integrated part of limbic system. It is the only sensory system that does not pass through the thalamus. Clinically, the human olfactory system is known to be vulnerable to attacks of many prevalent neurological diseases and psychiatric disorders, such as Alzheimer’s disease, Parkinson’s disease, post-traumatic stress disorder, and depression. In my talk, I will focus on the interaction and integration between olfactory and visual systems in perception.
