Title: Drosophila models for cancer and Alzheimer's disease
Dr. Lei Xue obtained his Ph. D from University of Zurich, received Postdoc training at Yale Medical School, and has served as a professor in Molecular Genetics at Tongji University since 2009. He has used Drosophila, the fruit fly, as a model organism to study the genetic mechanism of human diseases. He has generated Drosophila models for cancer and Alzheimer's disease (AD), and used these models to screen and identify novel genes involved in the diseases. He further studied the mechanisms of the genes, and applied the findings to mammalian cells.
