The title: Eicosanoids Regulate Macrophage Immunity to Pulmonary Infection
The abstract:
The role of eicosanoids in immunity against pulmonary infectious diseases has not been well understood. Our demonstration that eicosanoids regulate both innate and adaptive immunity to Mycobacterium tuberculosis is further strengthened by several recent studies demonstratingthat polymorphisms in eicosanoid pathways are associated with susceptibility to tuberculosis in both fish as well as in humans. Thus, from fish to mouse to man, eicosanoids appear to play an unexpected role in immunity to tuberculosis and potentially to other infectious diseases yet to be identified.
