Postdoc Positions at the Center for Quantitative Biology, Peking University

 

 

Cells use dynamic genetic circuits to execute key functions such as cell fate decisions and cellular state transitions in diverse contexts, from development to disease. Understanding how genetic circuits operate dynamically in time can provide new perspectives for disease diagnostics and treatments, and thus is fundamental for addressing many health-related issues.

Building upon recent advances in quantitative single-cell biology, our laboratory aims to understand how dynamic genetic circuits operate in individual cells (including cancer and stem cells), how such dynamics are modulated by genetic and epigenetic regulations, and what functions these dynamics provide for the cell. Concurrently, we are developing new dynamic perturbation approaches to interfere with gene circuit dynamics in order to control cellular fates or behaviors. Together, these efforts will allow us to identify a novel class of drug targets based on gene circuit dynamics, and to engineer circuit dynamics-guided therapeutics, including small molecules and synthetic gene circuits.

 

 

The perspective postdoctoral researcher will have the opportunity to join the growing field of quantitative single-cell biology. He/She can participate in ongoing research projects such as single-cell cancer biology, single-cell developmental biology, and single-cell immunology, or can develop his/her own projects that are in line with the laboratory’s research interests. In addition to the interdisciplinary training, he/she will have opportunities to travel abroad and work with our collaborators in North America or Europe.

Candidates are expected to have completed doctoral researches in relevant disciplines and should have published peer-reviewed scientific papers.
