Adenosine-to-Inosine (A-to-I) RNA editing, mediated by ADAR enzymes, is as an important post-transcriptional mechanism that diversifies the transcriptome. A large number of recent studies including ours have greatly expanded the A-to-I RNA editome. However, how RNA editing is regulated and what functional roles it plays are largely unexplored. I will describe our recent efforts to understand cis and trans regulation of RNA editing. I will also discuss the role of RNA editing in dsRNA-mediated innate immunity.
